Julian Joswig (Member of the German Bundestag) learns about sustainable infrastructure at RELINE
Member of the German Bundestag Julian Joswig visited RELINE in Rohrbach. During discussions with the management team and a tour of the production facilities, topics included municipal water networks, resource conservation, practical regulatory requirements, and the workforce at the site.
The visit was part of Joswig’s summer tour across Rhineland-Palatinate, during which the Bündnis 90/The Greens parliamentarian met with companies and initiatives throughout the state. He was accompanied by representatives of the regional party associations of Südliche Weinstraße and Rhein-Hunsrück. The delegation was welcomed at RELINE by CEO Marc Stiebing, Thomas Reingruber, Director Global Sales & Marketing, and Johannes Pick, Director of Operations.
The discussions focused on how municipalities can sustainably maintain their water supply and wastewater networks over the long term. During the production tour, Johannes Pick and Thomas Reingruber explained how materials, manufacturing processes, and quality control measures interact to produce a liner ready for shipment. The visit provided first-hand insight into the expertise, process knowledge, and manual work involved in production at the Rohrbach facility.
Addressing Rehabilitation Needs Earlier
At the municipal level, rehabilitation projects regularly compete with other public responsibilities. While damage to roads, bridges, or buildings is immediately visible, the condition of underground infrastructure often remains unnoticed for many years. Investment decisions and funding programs need to take these hidden rehabilitation requirements into account at an earlier stage.
“Water and wastewater networks are an essential part of public services. Municipalities need reliable framework conditions to maintain their networks sustainably over the long term,” emphasized Marc Stiebing, CEO of RELINE.
Making Resource Conservation Measurable
Another key topic was the responsible use of water and the role of trenchless rehabilitation in modernizing existing networks. RELINE documents the environmental impact of its UV-cured CIPP liners through a sustainability magazine, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), and Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs).
“The most sustainable infrastructure is infrastructure that performs reliably over the long term and can be maintained with an appropriate use of resources,” said Marc Stiebing.
Implementing Regulations in a Practical Way
The discussion also addressed industry regulation. Topics included clear standards, reliable testing procedures, and practical documentation requirements. From RELINE’s perspective, these measures create confidence for asset owners and installation contractors alike. The key is ensuring that they make quality on the construction site transparent and verifiable without creating unnecessary bureaucratic burdens.
Diversity in Production
Around 70 employees from a wide range of countries work in production at the Rohrbach facility. Approximately half of the workforce are women, including female shift supervisors. For RELINE, this demonstrates the important contribution that immigration and women in technical professions can make to recruiting and retaining skilled workers in an industrial environment.
