RELINE Europe completes first EPDs for ALPHALINER

We are pleased to announce the completion of the first two Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for our ALPHALINER liners. Independently verified environmental declarations are now available for the ALPHALINER 500G and 1800H product variants.

An EPD documents a product's environmental impact across its entire life cycle, in line with ISO 14025 and EN 15804, and externally verified by Kiwa-Ecobility Experts. For ALPHALINER 500G and 1800H, the Global Warming Potential (GWP) of manufacturing is 2.56 and 2.43 kg CO₂-equivalent per kilogram of liner, respectively. Both EPDs are valid until 16 July 2031.

These figures confirm a central insight from our sustainability work: within trenchless rehabilitation, the vast majority of environmental impact stems from the product itself — installation accounts for only a single-digit percentage. Improving the carbon footprint of sewer rehabilitation therefore starts with the choice of method: trenchless rather than open-cut construction saves, according to our life cycle assessments, 50 to 80 percent of a rehabilitation project's overall environmental impact — and material optimisation follows from there.

For municipalities and contracting authorities, EPDs are more than a technical data sheet. They provide the basis for comparison that public procurement needs to weigh environmental performance alongside price. One caveat is important: EPDs are only comparable when the functional unit and system boundaries align — a gap RELINE Europe is helping to close through the BGT industry initiative on harmonised standards.

Both EPDs are now available for download in the sustainability section of our website:
